The traditional data centre management approaches are based on configuring the specific metrics that needs monitoring. When monitoring servers and applications in a data centre, that makes a lot of sense. PremiTech's Performance Guard™ approaches this challenge by using a small footprint, zero-configuration, easy to deploy agent installed on each end-user PC or virtual PC (in server based computing environments). The agent reports performance data to an enterprise class platform for collecting, storing and reporting on performance data.

The Performance Guard™ agent is designed as a administration free client that is easily installed using any standard application distribution method. Once installed, the agent automatically starts collecting information. The agent calls the Performance Guard™ server and sends collected performance data since last report was posted. For scalability reasons, the Server can run on a single server or be separated into a collection, repository and reporting platform. While this enable for enterprise class large scale deployments, it can also be hosted on a single physical server for small to medium sized deployments.
